something wrong with my olympus stylus 850 SW digital camera when i take a pic?

i got one of the olympus stylus 850 SW cameras (the waterproof/shockproof one) for christmas and i have been playing around with it...and when i take a picture it makes a weird buzzing noise...it sounds like it is coming from the lens but i dont know...is it supposed to do that or is there something wrong with it?

I have the same camera and it probably the sound it makes when its focusing on the object you're taking a picture of. try pressing the button you use to take the picture, half way down(NOT all the way so that you take a picture), and if it makes that noise, its def. focusing its lens.

To many, digital cameras may seem to be finicky and sensitive electronic gadgets, that have no business in the hands of a child. While there may have been some truth to that years ago, it's not so much the case any longer. Digital cameras are great learning devices in the hands of a child, and are sure to exercise their creative juices to no limit.

A few years ago, Olympus came out with a lineup of Stylus cameras that would be perfect as a kids camera. In reality, they'd be perfect for many adults as well. These cameras truly set the bar for durability in an electronic toy. They are waterproof, shockproof, dust-proof, and freeze-proof. All within reasonable limits of course, but perfect for kids. You can drop them from up to six feet or so on a hard surface, and they still work fine. So unless your kids are giants, then this should work great for you. You can drop them in the pool, or the lake up to 10 feet, they totally prevent any moisture from getting in.

Now the dust-proof feature is of questionable value, unless your kid is PigPen from the Linus comic strips. Freeze-proof is kinda cool though, as your kids can take all kinds of pictures inside their snow fort without stressing out mom and dad.

Kids love taking pictures, and seem innately intuitive when it comes to gadgets. Who knows, you may be inspiring the next Ansel Adams by giving them one of these cool little cameras.

Getting the perfect camera, is never an easy thing, especially with the way digital technology is constantly changing.

Fortunately, there are plenty of helpful websites online, that can narrow down your search and help you find the camera with all the features important to you.
