help with laptop (netbook) battery please?
just bought one of the new samsung nc10 netbooks. When doing the very first charge, I let it charge for about half an hour then turned it on (whilst charging) and had a go on it for 2-3 hours then shut it down and let it charge for a further 4 or 5 hours. The battery is meant to last 7-8 hours but mine seems to be lasting 4-5. Any idea what the problem might be??? eg. should I have left the netbook turned off for the intial charge or should I have left it charging for longer?? (battery is li-ion)
It wont matter if you turn it on or not during the charge. This is because when a charger is in the socket, the computer doesn't use the battery, it just increases the volts (by using a parallel circuit) and drains power from the wall, whilst charging the battery. They say it lasts 7-8 under optimal conditions, like a cold room, so the fan can be turned down, no applications running, screen brightness and backlight turned down, GPU under minimal load (running XP in 16 bit graphics) etc. 4-5 is what you will get when doing stuff with the laptop.
