How do I transfer a video from a camcorder to a PC?

I have a Sony DCRTRV340 Digital8 Camcorder w/ 2.5" LCD USB Streaming, & Memory Stick capability and I have it hooked up with a USB to my computer and I have no idea why it hasnt come up to say that there is a USB connected or anything! I put the camera on memory and it says on the camera "USB CABLE" Please help if you can!
